Amplifying HBCU Climate Leadership on the Global Stage
The Challenge
HBCU Green Fund needed to execute a high-impact hybrid side event at COP30 to launch their ambitious ‘Power of 10’ campaign—aiming to raise $3 million for African youth climate projects—while delivering the African Youth Climate Justice Statement representing 16 African countries. With a lean budget and ambitious goals, including a minimum of 20 countries represented and strategic press engagement, they needed expert event production and marketing support.
Terra40’s Approach
Terra40 provided comprehensive Event Production and Marketing through our strategic campaign framework:
Event Production: Designed and executed a 60-minute hybrid side event with technical dry run coordination, Blue Zone venue logistics, and virtual platform management connecting in-person attendees with unlimited virtual participants across multiple African countries.
Strategic Marketing: Coordinated press conference logistics targeting 50+ attendees, produced biodegradable QR code stickers for sustainable promotion, developed social media engagement strategy including press kit preparation and journalist outreach under the #Road2Belem campaign.
Delegation Management & Support: Provided comprehensive on-ground support, including cultural intelligence guidance for Brazil, resources for navigating COP30 venue logistics, and curated recommendations for hospitals, clinics, restaurants, and cultural host spots. Created and managed a WhatsApp group for daily check-ins and ongoing updates, ensuring delegation coordination and responsive support throughout the forum.
Campaign Launch Support: Structured the ‘Power of 10’ campaign launch presentation showcasing the goal to raise $3M through $10 contributions, connecting 10 two-person teams of African focal points and HBCU fellows across approximately 100 HBCUs.
Realized Impact
The November 18, 2025, hybrid event at COP30’s Blue Zone connected African youth climate leaders across 20+ countries with HBCU fellows, launching a grassroots fundraising campaign that demonstrated how $10 contributions can aggregate into $3 million for direct climate action. The press conference and strategic media engagement positioned African youth voices at the center of global climate policy discussions. At the same time, the systematic event structure—from technical dry runs to post-COP impact reporting—created a replicable model for youth-led international climate advocacy.
