Connecting Climate Educators to Global Climate Action

The Challenge

Climate Generation—a Minnesota-based organization that has been building climate literacy amongst educators, youth, and communities since 2006—needed authentic, educational content from COP30 in Belém, Brazil. Their mission to ignite and sustain educators’ and communities’ ability to act on systems perpetuating the climate crisis required on-the-ground insights that could translate global climate policy into meaningful classroom and community engagement. They needed content that honored diverse knowledge systems, connected personal experience to policy outcomes, and prepared their network to be effective climate advocates.

Terra40’s Approach

Through a partnership where Climate Generation provided COP30 credentials in exchange for on-the-ground insights, Terra40 delivered comprehensive content creation services throughout the two-week conference:

Visual Storytelling: Captured photos and video footage documenting key moments, including Indigenous leadership at the Amazon-centered COP, cultural diversity in global climate negotiations, and behind-the-scenes realities of international climate policy-making. Attended TEDx at COP30 to provide visual content while listening to thought leaders speak on the ethical imperatives of addressing climate change.

Educational Blog Content: Developed weekly blog posts connecting global forum dynamics to Climate Generation’s academic approach, including reflections on cultural intelligence in climate action, Indigenous knowledge systems, and how Minnesota educators can apply COP30 insights in their communities.

Strategic Content Integration: Wove Climate Generation’s mission—igniting and sustaining the ability to act on systems perpetuating the climate crisis—throughout all content, demonstrating how global convenings connect to local climate education and advocacy work.

Realized Impact

Climate Generation received authentic, educational content that bridges the gap between international climate negotiations and Minnesota classrooms. The blog posts, photos, and videos offer educators real-world examples of how diverse cultural approaches enhance climate solutions, how Indigenous knowledge complements Western science, and how local climate action is connected to global policy. This content supports Climate Generation’s vision of ‘a just and abundant world beyond climate crisis’ by building climate literacy that respects diverse voices. It empowers sustained community action—precisely the kind of practical, accessible education that transforms information into advocacy.
